Broadcom delivered the kind of quarter that would normally dominate an earnings season: record revenue, triple-digit AI semiconductor growth and unusually ambitious visibility into 2027 and 2028. Yet AVGO did not respond with the breakout those numbers might suggest. That gap between business momentum and price reaction is the part traders should study.
For fiscal Q3 2026, Broadcom reported $29.6 billion in revenue, up 86% year over year. AI semiconductor revenue reached $16.7 billion, up 221% from a year earlier and 54% sequentially. Non-GAAP EPS rose to $3.32, while free cash flow hit $13.7 billion. The figures come from Broadcom's official earnings release.
# Strong results met even stronger expectations
Broadcom guided fiscal Q4 revenue to roughly $34.8 billion, up 93% year over year, with AI semiconductor revenue expected at $21.7 billion, up 236%. Reuters also reported management's outlook for roughly $115 billion in AI revenue in fiscal 2027 and a potential doubling to $230 billion in 2028. Reuters put the Q4 Wall Street consensus near $35.03 billion, slightly above the company guide.
That is why beat or miss is too shallow a framework. When a premium stock already carries exceptional expectations, good execution is not automatically a positive surprise. The better question is how much growth was already priced in.
# Stocktwits is extremely bullish while price confirmation is quieter
In Saturday's Stocktwits pulse, AVGO carried Extremely High message volume at 80/100, normalized sentiment of Extremely Bullish at 85/100, and roughly 74,000 watchers. The stock finished Friday almost unchanged around $357.90.
The divergence matters more than any individual post. Retail attention is intense, but price is not confirming that enthusiasm with the same force. Stocktwits posts are opinions, not evidence about fundamentals; the useful context is when attention runs ahead of confirmation.
# Broadcom broadens the AI semiconductor trade
Broadcom's custom accelerators and networking products show that AI infrastructure spending is broader than GPUs alone. Custom chips, networking, memory, packaging and data-center capacity are becoming separate profit pools. AVGO gives traders a different read on hyperscaler capex than Nvidia alone.
At the next open, watch whether AVGO can reclaim levels lost in the first post-earnings reaction, its relative strength versus Nvidia and the semiconductor index, and whether analyst revisions support the 2027-2028 assumptions.
The common mistake is turning a strong fundamental story into a guaranteed price direction. Define invalidation and maximum loss first with the Disciply Risk Calculator, then use the Trading Journal to record whether the trade came from price confirmation or excitement around the headline numbers.
Broadcom has shown that AI demand remains enormous. The harder test for AVGO is whether future execution can keep surprising a market that already expects extraordinary growth.
