Finding Trading Mistakes in MT5 History Without Mislabeling Losses
A practical method to compare MT5 trades with written rules, classify deviations and keep losing trades separate from execution mistakes.
Informational guide based on the cited official sources. Historical data alone does not prove why an outcome occurred.
Not just a journal: markets, execution, risk and review in one workflow.
Disciply combines MT5 data, market tools, execution controls and behavioral analytics. The value is not one feature; it is the connection between context → decision → execution → journal → review.
Market workspace, charts, price alerts, Market Breakdown, calendar/context, Market Bias and volatility context available in the market workflow.
Group breakeven, profit protection, SL/TP management across multiple positions with preview and broker checks, plus partial close where supported.
Distribute limit orders inside a range while reviewing order count, size and total exposure before sending them to the connected account.
Sizing proposals using history, session, asset, current risk, exposure and broker volume specs; guardrails reduce size when conditions deteriorate.
Orders, protection and position management linked to the active account, with level, tick, minimum-distance/freeze checks and confirmation before execution.
Define a deviation before reviewing
Write observable rules for maximum risk, entry conditions, initial stop, daily limits and exits. “I traded badly” cannot be measured. “I opened another position after my daily stop” can be checked against timestamps and account history.
Validate the history export
Check the date range, time zone, account currency, commissions, swaps, partial executions and missing deals. MetaTrader 5 reports are generated from account history; inspect individual operations whenever an aggregate looks inconsistent. Keep an untouched copy of the export.
Use a small, stable taxonomy
Start with labels such as off-plan entry, risk-limit breach, moved stop, skipped checklist and overtrading. Record compliant trades too. A stable taxonomy makes weekly comparisons more useful than inventing categories after seeing the result. Add notes when the terminal does not record setup or emotional context.

Separate process from outcome
Compare deviations with P&L, but do not define mistakes by P&L. A losing trade that followed the plan may be a sound decision; a lucky trade outside the rules remains a deviation. Report sample size and check whether a pattern recurs in later data before changing a strategy.
Turn the review into a test
For each deviation, note the rule, the evidence and one observable adjustment to test in a future session. Change one variable at a time. A journal can connect trades, risk and behavior, but its conclusions still depend on accurate history and consistent labels.
Common questions
Does MT5 detect revenge trading automatically?
No. History can show sequence, timing, volume and outcomes, but interpreting behavior requires explicit rules and context. Intent cannot be inferred from P&L alone.
Is every losing trade a mistake?
No. A loss can follow a valid setup and respect the risk plan. Evaluate process separately from outcome.
