01What happened

On 22 October gold extended the previous sessions' decline. Reuters quoted spot bullion near 4.055,69 dollars per ounce, down 2,1% at the stated observation. This reflects ongoing weakness rather than a proven bullish reversal. Source distinction matters: GC=F is a COMEX gold futures proxy, not spot XAUUSD or a broker feed. The spot Reuters quote may differ from the historical candles captured by Disciply.

02The move

On H1, examine hourly closes relative to former support. A break below 4.100 and pressure toward 4.079–4.068 and 4.055 point to possible downside expansion, subject to the actual captured candles. A rebound alone is not a reversal: the market must recover and hold broken levels. H4 provides the higher-timeframe filter; while rebounds remain below 4.135–4.150, a corrective bearish bias is plausible. BOS, CHoCH and retest require confirmed candle closes and swing evidence.

The psychological 4.100 threshold and prior lows near 4.073 were watched during the sell-off. Stops or opposing interest may cluster there, but candle OHLC does not reveal order-book depth or prove stop hunting. A true sweep requires a move through the level followed by a close back inside; repeated closes below instead support a break-and-acceptance reading. Do not label a sweep or CHoCH without evidence.

07Session and timing

Compare Asian trading, the European continuation and the New York open rather than assuming one session drove the entire fall. Reuters reported Asian pressure, but session-level attribution requires complete timestamped OHLC. Server-side capture and session shading can show where actual candle-range expansion occurred and whether later accelerations followed.

08Volume / volatility

There is no reliable centralised spot XAUUSD volume series. Provider tick volume and exchange-traded futures volume describe different markets and cannot prove institutional selling or absorption. Candle ranges, ATR and the Disciply DVI can quantify realised volatility once the historical snapshot is captured, but they do not reveal executed order flow.

09The Disciply perspective

Higher oil prices can increase persistent-inflation concerns. A more restrictive Fed outlook may lift nominal or real yields and raise the cost of holding gold. The market is watching the Fed meeting on 27–28 October and the US PCE release on 29 October. A bullish recovery would be more credible with easing yield pressure and reclaimed levels; hawkish repricing could sustain downside pressure. DXY and Treasury yields provide context, not mechanical signals.
