During the US PCE release window, Gold initially extended higher beyond recent references. The expansion was not sustained and price quickly returned into the prior range.
02The move
The sequence first shows bullish acceleration and then a more persistent opposite response. The educational point is not the simple break of the high, but the market's inability to build acceptance above the area just explored.
03Before the move
The move developed inside a recovery and consolidation phase following the strong volatility of previous sessions. The higher-timeframe context therefore remains more complex than a simple intraday directional continuation.
04News / catalyst
The US PCE release occurred in the same time window as the initial expansion. The timing is relevant, but it is not presented as proof of certain causality for every phase of the reaction.
05Price structure
The intraday structure shows a test of recent highs followed by failure to hold above the area. The subsequent return into the range is more consistent with rejection than with an accepted breakout.
06Liquidity
Recent highs were the clearest upper reference. Price explored them, but the following response shows that breaking the reference was not enough to create new acceptance above the area.
07Session and timing
The event sits around the transition from the later European session into the early US phase, a window where participation and volatility can increase materially.
08Volume / volatility
